Student Information

Pre-requisites:
• Class 5 license (no novice 1 or 2)
• SGI Commercial Drivers Medical
• SGI abstract and resume

*Due to the exceeded MELT training hours, students Do NOT need to report to class with a Class 1 Learner License*

Our 12 week, 450-hour course exceeds the Saskatchewan MELT program.

The course consists of:
•  60 hours of classroom study preparation for the written Class 1 to 5
•  Signs and Air Brake learners license
•  47 hours of MELT classroom training
•  105 hours of behind the wheel training
•  48 hours of In-Yard (around the vehicle) training
•  65 hours of Yard Maneuvers training
•  40 hours of Air Brake training
•  85 hours of observation time
•  Super-B training
•  Loaded trailers

NRT will book the SGI written, road, pre-trip and air exams on the student’s behalf.

There are bunkhouses located on NRT property where students can stay during the course (included in the tuition).
